NEO MANDALA
“NEO Mandala” — Built Through a Daily Practice
“NEO Mandala” is an ongoing project by Mineto Kanzaki, developed through a continuous process of everyday creation. By collecting images and motifs encountered in daily life and layering them densely together, he creates a new form of mandala through a contemporary visual sensibility. Its defining characteristics include highly stimulating, information-rich compositions and the use of kanji as graphic elements. Drawing on an approach that also carries through to his directing work, the project reinterprets Japanese and Asian culture and aesthetics through his own visual language.

Expanding Through Collaboration
The visual language of “NEO Mandala” has also expanded into collaborations with music and artists. For Jinmenusagi’s “Metchalo” visualizer, the world of the track was translated into moving collage. In a collaboration with TEMBA, photographs and words from the artist himself were incorporated as source material and reconstructed into new visuals. The project has also been featured in “RECORD MUSIC VIDEO GALLERY,” an exhibition presenting works inspired by iconic records from the past. Through these collaborations, “NEO Mandala” continues to evolve through its connections with a wide range of cultures.
