Mori Calliope "未来島 ~Future Island~" Music Video
ONE PIECE × Mori Calliope
“Future Island” was created as the theme song for Volume 106 of *ONE PIECE*, “A Genius’s Dream.” Drawing from the excitement of the future and the strange, slightly mysterious atmosphere of the Egghead Arc, we combined that world with Mori Calliope’s character and performance to create a new interpretation of “Future Island.” Rather than simply recreating the world of the original story, we aimed to build a space where the distinct identities of *ONE PIECE* and Mori Calliope could naturally blend together.
Retro-Futurism × Chaotic Graphics
Using Egghead’s retro-futuristic sensibility as a foundation, we collaged together characters, typography, machinery, manga-inspired elements, and a variety of other visual motifs. The result is a colorful and chaotic world that feels as if new ideas and images are constantly emerging.
The Same Process as Our Usual Music Videos
We began by capturing a performance by Mori Calliope and used it as the foundation of the piece. From there, we built the backgrounds, graphics, and VFX in post-production, following the same workflow we typically use when creating live-action music videos. Rather than treating a virtual artist as something that requires an entirely different approach, we centered the process around the artist’s performance itself, bringing movement, camera work, and graphics together into a single visual experience.
